Host a Successful Little House Event!

The Little House Books chronicle the adventures and triumphs in the lives of Laura Ingalls Wilder and the pioneer girls in her family – Martha, Charlotte, Caroline, and Rose. Celebrate the spirit, history, and heritage of these five adventurous girls with a fabulous in-store event that captures the sights, sounds, and tastes of Little House.

Some of these tips and suggestions come from pioneers among booksellers who have hosted successful Little House events and festivals.

“[Promoting and hosting an event] wins you new customers that you didn’t have.”
—Michelle, the Red Balloon Book Shop, St. Paul, Minnesota

Before Your Event

Reach out to your community
Contact merchants in your community, and ask them to team up with your store for your Little House event. A Local bakery can provide refreshments, like cornbread and whole grain breads. Contact a local children’s theater group and musicians to perform during the event.

“The key to a good event is promoting it with gusto.”
—Michelle, the Red Balloon Book Shop, St. Paul, Minnesota

Everyone is invited to a Little House party! So, be sure to promote your event, so that children of all ages in your community will hit the trail to your in-store event.

Create an invitation to mail to your favorite customers. Karen at the Village Book Shop in Omaha, Nebraska suggests sending invitations to all customers who have purchased a Little House book within the past twelve months.

Include a listing in your local newspaper’s calendar section, or place an ad in local publications, to increase the community’s awareness of your event.

Fill your shelves with the wonder of Little House
